STATEMENT: Young Conservatives React to King's Speech 

Blue Beyond, the think tank for young conservatives who feel disconnected from policy making and Westminster react to the King's Speech.

Liv Lever, the Director of Blue Beyond said: 

“Young people were mentioned more than we expected in today’s speech, and reforms in relation to crime and leaseholders, investment in mental health services and improving quality of degrees and apprenticeships are welcome. However, more needs to be done to appeal to young people. 

“Young Conservatives want to see an increase in housing supply, reforming taxes for young professionals, and axing unfair policies such as the triple lock which results in younger generations are unreasonably paying for older generations. Many Young Conservatives are saddened to see that the proposed Conversion Therapy Ban omitted from the King’s Speechand want to see the government deliver on its past promises of a full ban”

”Blue Beyond urges the Conservative Party to convene with Young Conservatives, to ensure that policy included in the next manifesto means that the current generation of young people are no longer poorer than their parents' generation. “
