Media Policy

For Beyonders (Members of Blue Beyond):

• We aim to ensure as many people, as possible, get access to media opportunities. As a result, we will prioritise Beyonders who haven’t been had a media opportunity before when working with media professionals or journalists

• A record is kept of Beyonders’ details and previous media opportunities so as to speed up media opportunities and to assist media outlets with waivers for Beyonders under the age of eighteen

• Whilst we will submit Beyonders to media professionals and journalists, the ultimate decision on who is asked to participate is up to the media outlet/producers and therefore Blue Beyond cannot guarantee that all opportunities will:

  • Be actioned by the media outlet engaged with Blue Beyond

  • Be edited into the final feature (e.g. for film, recorded radio or printed media)

  • Be published, televised or streamed

• We are often asked for more Beyonders than often required for the final product – this is normal media policy as producers will often use their own discretion when selecting individuals for radio, television or printed media

While we endeavour to ensure as many interested Beyonders as possible get access to media opportunities, the final decision on which Beyonders are offered for each media opportunity is reserved by the Blue Beyond Press Secretary, the Founder and other Executive Members. In some cases, there are specific requirements from the productions teams that affect our decisions such as age, gender, sexuality or location. The final selection of participants for the media opportunity is up to the media outlet and producers themselves.

Please be aware that last minute cancellations or an opportunity being pulled is sadly not a rare occurrence and Blue Beyond does not have any control or influence in these circumstances.

For Media Outlets:

Blue Beyond’s core purpose is to increase youth conservative engagement outside of the Westminster bubble; therefore we ask that you facilitate any media opportunities outside of London wherever possible. Where this is not possible, we kindly ask that any travel expenses are paid. As a diverse youth organisation that can fulfil a wide variety of demographics, we request that it is kept in mind any participants are youth activists and that this is taken into account during any media appearance. The views expressed by individuals from Blue Beyond are representative only of their own personal views and not that of; Blue Beyond and our Partner Organisations, the Conservative and Unionist Party, any organisation the individual is also a member of; any place of work or educational institutions, etc.
